Creating Opportunities in Health and Fitness Apps Apple Health Kit

Ø

Ø  The Health App is a user interface providing a dashboard view of heart rate, blood pressure, fitness, nutrition, sleep patterns and blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Health Kit is the framework software that developers work with to marry information among personal health devices and share information with healthcare providers. It enables a holistic view of a user's health and fitness, empowering patients to interact with physicians on a variety of health matters and actively participate in their care.

Tighter Integration, Higher Quality Hardware

A common road block in the adoption of wearable technology has been operating system integration from wearable technology manufacturers. iOS Health acts as the companion app. Of course, many developers will still want create a third-party app for marketing, branding and cross-platform purposes such as an equivalent Android app.

The Divergence of Health and Fitness

It's fair to say that most consumers do not currently differentiate between healthcare apps and fitness apps. The launch of iOS 8 is going to help streamline the production of wearable tech for both fitness and healthcare brands, and in doing so; the difference between the two is likely to become more pronounced. They might be grouped together in terms of App Store categorization, but they are worlds apart in terms of audience and scope.

Wearable Success Reliant Of App Development

For the vast majority of wearable manufacturers, app development will be necessary for user identification and interaction. This be true for a consumer audience, but also for healthcare professionals seeking to collect and analyze medical data of their patients. While new hardware might be more exciting for consumers, software is the key to helping companies create a connection with their customers, offering the ability to analyze the masses of data that come from wearables.

Ø  Success of wearables will not hinge on the hardware alone; Success will hinge on the associated mobile apps and how effective they are in changing behaviour through the right data, insights and recommended actions in consumers' mobile moments While the upcoming changes to iOS 8 certainly make lives easier for hardware accessory producers, it will not diminish the need for quality app development.

Six Strategies for Mobile App Success

Mobility has changed business forever. It has increased the types of devices like phones, tablets, wearables and the volume of devices that connect to a company's enterprise resources. There are over 6 billion mobile phone subscribers globally and the rapidly expanding Internet of Things (IoT) market promises to connect tens of billions of devices to the Internet within several years. These mobile and IoT devices have new operating systems that change how we build software and services. These technology shifts also provide a tremendous opportunity to change how every company will engage and transact business with its customers, employees and partners.

To benefit from these new technologies, corporate data and services must be accessible across smart phones to wearables. Businesses are taking action. Leading companies in the mobile cloud era will create business and technical strategies where:

Ø  Flexible platforms enable scalable mobile application development.

Ø  Data should be secured across devices, networks and clouds.

Ø  Mobile applications move from pretty to transactional.

Ø  Mobile apps become a collection of data that represents an entire workflow.

Ø  The focus shifts from app downloads to continuous improvement and engagement.

Ø  IT leverages the cloud for rich functionality and scale.

The good news is that all of the technology a company needs to mobile-enable a business is available as a set of modular platform capabilities that can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud. In fact, a company can use a combination of cloud and on-premise software to mobile-enable apps and services. With technology solutions readily available, companies can focus on the critical process of defining the workflows that need to be mobile-enabled.

Chat is eating the world

Chat is eating the world. In one form or the other, it most definitely is. Day by day much people are discovering that, Chat is becoming the main medium through which we get things done. Every new app that is being launched comes with a learning curve. This is where the chat apps have an extra edge over the other apps since it bypasses this barrier owing to their simple one user interface. And that's why; it is the second largest medium of communication in the world.

Chat apps are now platforms in their own right. Instant messenger services and chat apps continue to show impressive growth patterns. A chat interface isn't just limited to texts; it enables a two way conversation to get tasks done. These "tasks" can be anything starting from conversing to booking a cab and even ordering food. Transferring cash and paying bills have become that easy due to the drastic development in chat interfaces. What if instead of downloading an app for every single purpose, we have one app through which we simply chat with a service for a quicker, smarter response?

The thought of connecting the producers to the consumers was very appealing for they could solve the ever existing problems of miscommunication, time lag and several other redundancies through chat. The Chat platform is the way forward to answer people's queries, albeit with a personal touch. Chat platform is creating a big revolution in the global retail market and it is evident that the chat interface is becoming an integral part of this modern conversing society.

Strategies: Developing business mobile apps

Everyone wants mobile applications that improve productivity in the enterprise. Here's what you need to think about before developing business mobile apps. Developing mobile apps can be a big win for an enterprise if the right investments in time and money are made and, of course, employees are trained to take advantage of them. Useful business mobile apps must allow users to be able to do something in order to be valuable. Users need actual, actionable access to business functionality in order to get tasks done.

Providing a data viewer is not enough. Developing business mobile apps at this level takes time and it may be impossible to provide a fully functioning application in this format. A business needs to weigh the advantages and disadvantages to determine which functions are critical for use in a mobile application. Testing mobile applications is an inherent part of development and improving productivity. Mobile applications will be most valuable if they make users more productive. Great apps help create and support a stable user base and there is a greater incentive to steadily improve the application's functionality.

Microsoft reveals Microsoft Send, a new enterprise chat app to rival Slack

Microsoft has launched Microsoft Send, a new messaging service that should have slack worried. Designed to provide lightning-quick communication between co-workers, Send comes with the added bonus of Outlook integration. The app is already available to iOS users in the US and Canada, and Microsoft says it will be releasing a version for Android and Windows Phone soon.

Microsoft Send is an app designed to speed up communication by filling the gap between text messages and emails. Much like Slack, Send is classed as an instant-messaging (IM) tool, and is made for schools and businesses using Office 365. Users can reply to colleagues' messages like a normal IM chat.

Send is the latest app from Microsoft's innovative Microsoft Garage; a branch of the company that allows employees to work on experimental apps in their downtime. The project recently released a Tossup, an innovative planning app, and has released other experimental apps such as InstaNote and Receipt Tracker in the past.

However, unlike its previous Garage apps, Send has huge mainstream potential. The widespread success of Slack shows the demand for enterprise-targeted chat applications, and Send's Office integration means it could slot into the existing infrastructure of many organisations. Would you be interested in using Microsoft Send? Let us know in the comments.

How to become a winner in this digital age?

The application economy has transformed how people want to consume services, leaving businesses scrapping for the skills to compete. Banks, for example, are pressed to make digital and mobility a core part of their strategy in order to prosper. Software really is becoming the cog to every wheel that keeps our world spinning. Not only that, software helps companies differentiate.

Consumers are embracing this change and are now the most demanding customer base ever as – the application economy empowers them, commodities products and intensifies competition beyond the norm. They are very discerning in how they spend their money; they know what a good customer experience is and expect nothing less. Delivering this high-value customer experience is imperative to survive.

So what does this mean for business? Every business is trying to understand how to use technology to disinter mediate legacy businesses, find new ways to reach new markets, design faster and innovate more efficiently. Companies need to focus their efforts to become digital masters to remain competitive.

What are enterprise mobile developers actually prioritizing?

Enterprise mobile development teams should spend more time seeking ways to engage people through apps they already use. Communications and social networks claim the most mobile moments today, accounting for roughly 21% of the time people spend on their smart phones. Most people use just a handful of apps regularly.

Separate study by 451 Research lists customer relationship management and customer-facing apps as the top priority, ahead of those that prioritize worker productivity, customer service, or internal business processes such as field sales resource management. Close to half of the 480 respondents expect to release at least 10 mobile apps during the next two years. Organizations increasingly find it difficult to be proactive against competitive pressures, which are resulting in their mobile apps becoming tactical, rather than strategic. Few enterprise apps offer enough compelling, exclusive services, functionality, and information or the phenomenal convenience necessary to be just a destination.

New statistics about the shortage of development talent along with new research about attention spans, businesses might want to prioritize the latter. At the very least, it seems time for a reality check about who it's possible to reach with a branded mobile app.

Apps are at the centre- Every successful CEO has to answer these questions

If competitiveness relies so heavily on cost and customer experience, how do we get cost down and customer experience up? One of the primary ways is by targeting application development for your core business needs. For example,

·         Do your customers like your website?

·         Do your customers find ordering easy?

·         What happens when a customer calls in for service?

·         Do you have streamlined warehousing, distribution, and logistics?

·         Do your in-house applications talk to each other?

·         How does collaboration work among your teams and departments?

·         Do your customers get and pay their bills quickly?

Apps are at the core of all of these questions and hundreds more. To put it bluntly, if a bit simplistically, your business – whatever your business is – runs on its apps. And if that is the case, then your apps have a significant impact on your costs and your customer experience.

Being competitive always involves two key factors: Happy customers by making things easier, faster, or more enjoyable and/or lower price. Both factors can be addressed with the right application development. That is, application development that is targeted and timely.

Demand for enterprise mobile apps to grow faster

By the end of 2017, market demand for mobile app development services will grow at least five times faster than internal IT organisation capacity to deliver them. Organisations will improve their in-house mobile development skills over time. Mobile phone sales are expected to reach 2.1 billion units by 2019, which will fuel demand for apps in the enterprise that meet the high performance and usability of consumer apps. Mobile apps are becoming tactical, rather than strategic. Demand for mobile apps outstrips available development capacity; making quick creation of apps is even more challenging.

There are four best practices that organisations can consider to successfully overcome app development challenges:

Ø  Prioritise app development

Ø  Adopt a bimodal IT approach

Ø  Use rapid mobile app development (RMAD) tools

Ø  Adopt a mixed-sourcing approach

Significant innovation is driving this market and replacing traditional coding approaches, such as native development tools, with more effective app development tools. Being a key factor in defining common criteria for evaluating mobile app projects development teams need to formulate a process of mobile app prioritisation that involves understanding the needs of business stakeholders.
