It Takes to Stand Out in a Crowded Market
<img the biggest problems with launching anything in this day and age is that you're drowning in competition. The statistics for success aren't positive. One study says that in the mobile app development market, less than 0.1% of apps will ever see financial success.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">Those numbers are shocking and you wouldn't be surprised to find people pulling out of the mobile app market in droves, but the app market remains as popular as ever. So how can you avoid spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of your time to find out whether your product will achieve financial success?

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">What is a Minimum Viable Product?

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">A Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is essentially a proof of concept: it's the smallest iteration of a product you need before you can show it to customers, investors, or any other stakeholders. It's a functional version of your product, but without any scaling or the bells and whistles of a full version. For investors, it demonstrates the capabilities of the app without exposing anyone to the risk of scaling without a secure investment.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">The main benefit of an MVP is that you do not have to spend the full amount to get something you can actually use. It offers the core functionality of the app at a fraction of the price. Every app developer should be thinking about building an MVP as their first and foremost goal.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">The Blindness of Traditional Development

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">Traditional development is about taking an idea and trying it out. Only when you have a finished product that you can take to market do you start looking for outside investment. And when you begin looking for outside investment, there are no guarantees of success.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">As you can understand, most people do not have the time or the money to deal with experiments like this.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">Is the Mobile App Market Too Crowded?

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">Some would say that you should not waste your time trying to build an app because there are already too many people trying to do the same thing. On the other hand, if you produce one of the most popular apps you can potentially earn millions from it. It may even lead to you getting acquired by a major company, which could make you a multimillionaire.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(29,27,17)">It is far from a waste of time if you have a great idea, but there are lots of barriers to entry simply because the mobile app market is so expensive to get into. It is definitely not an easy decision to decide who to partner with for your designing and developing your mobile app. Which company should you choose? How can you evaluate your potential partners? What is necessary for you? What process is used? These are all important considerations. Choosing the wrong partner can lead to bad and bug-loaded code, months of delay and an app that offers a poorly designed experience, which means that tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars end up being wasted.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)">The best way to prevent this from happening is to choose the right mobile application development company. How can you do that? These 4 tips will help you:

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)">Tip 1:<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)"> Timeliness: This one is pretty easy; the mobile app development company should be able to meet deadlines. Not delivering on time is probably the hardest thing for you in terms of a wasted opportunity and cost. You need to ensure that the company that's asking for hundreds of thousands of dollars of your money is able to make good on its promises.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)">Tip 2:<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)"> Client References: The portfolio of the mobile app development company is the first thing you will look at. You should check the brands they have worked with, the problems they have solved, the work they have done as this gives you a good idea of their expertise. At this stage, getting client references is essential. You need to verify everything that the agency is pitching at you and the only way to do that is to get references of clients they have serviced and contact them for getting their opinion.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)">Tip 3:<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)"> Cost: The next thing you need to know is who will be working on your app. There are plenty of mobile application development companies that outsource their work to workers overseas. While this is definitely going to cost you less, you should also bear in mind that you may end up with a cheap finished product as there may be compromises in quality for justifying the lower cost. Therefore, you should always double check to see who will be doing the work rather than letting your decision be made solely in terms of cost.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)">Tip 4:<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)"> Experience: Experience is also an important factor to consider when selecting a mobile application development company. Newbies may not be able to provide you the fully customized app you are looking for as opposed to those who have developed apps before. Decide the platform for which you need an app and check the company's experience for that one. Experienced companies will be aware of the ins and outs of app development and will have perfected their development process as compared to novices who have just begun their work.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(15,36,62)">These tips will help you in making the right decision when selecting a mobile application development company and save your time, money and resources.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15391758817268318677noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7539918049200893114.post-54424024630755355432016-06-22T10:15:00.001-07:002016-06-22T10:15:51.807-07:00Using apps for Remote client Interactions

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(33,88,104)">We live in an age where communication takes place primarily on digital platforms. This can also stem from the fact that sometimes, two groups of people can have problems stating what they mean. When you run into a snag with an unequal exchange of information on both sides of the table, whether with colleagues or your clients, Business 2 Community suggests establishing smaller goals and individual expectations. For example, instead of fielding a client request as a team, assign an individual to handle it and really get to the heart of what's being asked. This also solves problems when information becomes vague because it was never conveyed clearly or understood in the first place.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(33,88,104)">The difference between failing to effectively use information to give a client what they want, versus exceeding their expectations, is to win or lose them in the long run. You always want to make your clients feel valued, and the number one way to achieve that result is to actively listen. When you're working with a team, though, this also hinges on the expectation that everyone present listening as carefully as you. Video conferencing makes it easier for everyone to be on the same page, since you're also all in the same digital conference room. You can skip misunderstandings that happen with e-mails or delayed communication. This is the secret of how to excel at client interaction and stand out from your competitors.

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif;color:rgb(33,88,104)">4. By comparison, the low start-up fees offered by cloud-based services, such as codeless mobile application development platforms can seem enticing, especially when the services promise to do most of the work.

When evaluating any mobile app development tools, make sure to consider total cost of ownership, not just immediate up-front expenses. Remember the long-term costs when evaluating mobile application development tools to understand their full effect. Services that cost less in the short term might actually cost more in the end, especially if the services don't integrate well with other systems or cannot handle all the functionality a company needs.

The short-term gains might make open source tools attractive too, but if developers and administrators spend hours supporting and integrating them, the advantages quickly disappear.

Lifecycle management

Remember the long-term costs when evaluating development tools to understand their full effect.

Once developers build an app their job is not done. They must test, host, deploy, maintain and analyze its usage throughout its lifecycle. They must also figure out how to handle and store data, secure the data and integrate it with other systems. In addition, they must consider all the device types they have to deploy the app on and the different delivery mechanisms and upgrade strategies on each device type.

If developers plan to do the work in house, they must be sure their mobile app development tools work together to support the app's lifecycle. These platforms, usually cloud-based services, often promise a comprehensive suite of tools to take care of all the pain points. Not all services are created equal, so developers must determine exactly what they need and whether the service can deliver it, taking into account extensibility and integration with other systems.

Security

Mobile application development tools should allow Admins to use a device's built-in security controls.

Governance and audibility are also important, regardless of what tools developers use. Mobile IT strategies have to support different business groups, each asking for multiple applications. As each group changes strategies and systems, IT must also be able to update mobile applications, quickly and seamlessly. A line-of-business can't wait six months to a year for an application to be developed or updated if it is to remain competitive. Enterprises need to run fast on their first mobile initiative, and just as fast on the next hundred.

Success for a mobile IT strategy is very tightly tied to the speed at which mobile applications can be created and most importantly, updated. Companies find that their mobile apps become digital channels and quickly want to invest more in improving the capabilities they offer through mobile. Speedy mobile deployments come from fast front-end development and fast back-end access.

On the front-end, mobile developers and architects are focused on deploying functional mobile applications with easy-to-use interfaces for immersive and responsive experiences – as quickly as possible.

However, speed on the front end is the easy bit compared to what it costs to power the application. Front-end speed doesn't matter if an application's intended content is locked away in systems across the enterprise. Custom code and point-to-point integration not only slow application development, they cripple the ability to make changes to applications.

Exposing an enterprise's assets is risky business, and the greater the number of applications, users, and systems, the greater the risk of assets being compromised. Moreover, systems that aren't built to handle the volume of data requests that might be expected from mobile applications are prone to failure or downtime, which ultimately results in a bad user experience.

This creates a conflict between the mobile application developer's need to access data quickly, and the back-end developer's need to ensure access to enterprise data is well secured, governed, and managed.

The solution is API-led connectivity. In order to support front-end speed while having robust back-end governance, enterprises need to provide mobile developers with self- service access to data across the organisation.

An early success came from the development of a mobile application to automate and digitise wholesale ordering and streamline operations with partners. The company was able to track external assets in the field, enabling them to know inventory stock situations and begin to address them on a timely basis. The next step for the company is to extend its mobile strategy to consumer facing applications. Full visibility and governance of all integrations makes it possible to do so quickly.

The API-led approach provides a layered model that unlocks back-end system data while providing security and control over the data being used. PayPal's VP of consumer product Joanna Lambert in an announcement on the company's blog said that it was a difficult decision to no longer support the PayPal app on these mobile platforms. As the underlining business logic started becoming complex, some of the developers started writing unit test scripts for the mobile app business logic classes & methods using the frameworks derived from J Unit such as JM Unit, B Unit and OC Unit. These unit test scripts were checked-in into the source control with the source code and integrated with continuous integration (CI) systems, to execute automatically on every built.

As the complexity and size of the mobile applications increased with device capabilities and processing power, the apps require testing of large number of test cases that cannot be tested manually in every release cycle and this created a need of UI test automation for mobile applications. This need gave birth to Image comparison (OCR based tools) powered by VnC based tools and hardwired mobile phone docks with cameras mounted over the device screens. These tools provided basic record and playback capabilities, with initial scripting support based on manually created on-screen Image Object mapping repos. As these tools had the capabilities of pushing key events and relaying the mobile screen content on a connected computer for execution of automation scripts, they are also used for testing automation of mobile application on remotely available device connected over internet i.e. the services like device-anywhere.

With the increase in popularity of iOS & Android platforms, people started using Instruments support provided by the iOS platform SDK xcode and Robotium for Android. Testing with Instruments required developing unit test type 'scripts' and executing then on emulators or usb/wifi connected devices. QA engineers have to often revert to development team for modification of these scripts to represent the modified or required new test scenarios as none of these frameworks provided the capabilities of recording the test scripts. These frameworks were able to fulfill the need of functional test automation for the mobile apps, but were not able to support with the need of UI test automation or execution of test scripts on remote devices in different geographies and operator networks.

Next came in the wave of Object comparison based test automation tool for mobile application; these tools require instrumentation of the application source code with their automation library. This library captures all the application objects, their properties and user actions at the time of recording and replays user actions at the time of execution to assert the object properties and give results. Some of this of tools allow to execute test scripts only on USB/wifi connected devices, while some others provides the capabilities execute test scripts on remote devices connected over internet and hosted anywhere across the globe. Few of them allow simulating desired environmental conditions at the time of recording and execution along with senor data simulation. They also provide features like adding assertions and regressions and editing of recorded test scripts for advance users.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15391758817268318677noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7539918049200893114.post-47249696955235358602016-04-30T11:12:00.001-07:002016-04-30T11:12:06.101-07:00YouTube redesigns its mobile apps with improved recommendations

YouTube is launching new versions of its iOS and Android apps today with a redesigned home tab and smarter video recommendations.
